AUTUMN ON THE SOUL
Autumn drips onto the old roof,
Leaves fall one by one upon the soul,
A squirrel gasps amidst the bare branches,
Night has just fallen and caught it by the tail…
A quince turns yellow on a silver bough,
Left behind from seasons unharvested,
It rolls its anger like a stone in a stream,
Autumn settles on the soul’s leaves like wire…
The house on the hill sleeps upon seven wounds,
That never healed by the maiden’s remedy,
Odysseus’s wind from the Ionian fans the flames,
Souls in the hearth burn to the very marrow!
